WIFE is the solo electronic music project of multi-instrumentalist producer James Kelly, also known as the mastermind behind forward-thinking acclaimed post-black metal band ALTAR OF PLAGUES.
Debuting with the “Stoic” EP in 2012 (released on limited edition vinyl via Left_blank), which would gain some traction in the electronic/experimental music scene, WIFE would immediately sign with respected electronic music label Tri-Angle Records (The Haxan Cloak, Forest Swords, Evian Christ, Holy Other, Clams Casino etc.) for WIFE’s debut LP “What’s Between” in 2014 (which was co-produced by The Haxan Cloak respectively). “What’s Between” would help bring even more awareness to Kelly as a producer/prospect within the electronic music scene alongside his aforementioned peers. Said debut LP would see Kelly incorporate more song-oriented electronic pop elements into the WIFE sound as well and would see Kelly become quite active on the live circuit likewise. With the new WIFE EP “Standard Nature” to be released via Profound Lore Records on limited edition CD, limited edition12” MLP and digital this Sept, Kelly has created a bridge between “What’s Between” and the more experimental aura of the “Stoic” EP. The result being some of the best produced WIFE material yet with creating heavier, cacophonous, more intense and more dynamic sounds through the myriad of meticulously crafted layers of eleectronics, samples and beats.
